Recently, targeting the upcoming SLC Examination, NEA (Nepal Electricity Authority) has reduced 1 hr load-shedding in the schedule. But the SLC Examination preparing examinees have made complaints that the reduced 1 hr has made no difference in their preparation. The country, which is potential of generating 83,000 MW Electricity, is suffering from load-shedding schedule.

PM K.P. Sharma Oli’s India visit had signed an agreement that India would provide 80 MW of electricity to Nepal. Right after the agreement, there was an expectation that the load-shedding would decrease at least up to 2-hours per day. But even after the agreement of Nepal to get 80 MW of electricity from India, Nepal Electricity Authority has been able to reduce only one hour load-shedding schedule from the existing load-shedding list. Though NEA has, being intended for the upcoming SLC Examination, has reduced only one hour load-shedding; students are facing the problems during their study time.

A student Pratika Shrestha says, “Electricity is almost off. 4-5 hours there is electricity. Due to hours’ load-shedding, inverter also cannot be charged. So at night, when there is no electricity, we mostly study in candle light; and is very difficult to study.”

Another student Prajwal Koirala says, “We are facing difficulties studying in candle. There might be students facing more difficulties in preparation of SLC. Now, Nepal’s Hydro-electricity Projects should not be decreasing.”
The iron gate SLC Examination, which is taken as the major step in student life,  is concerned till today. In such condition, where out of 24 hours, 12 hours load-shedding, millions of Nepalese student are compelled to search their future.
