Brazilian Government and Chilean Government Support Students to Study in China

The Chinese Higher Education Exhibition was held in Brazil and Chile from Nov. 15 to 26, 2012. The delegation, comprising more than 160 delegates from 76 Chinese Institutions of Higher Education headed by Secretary-General Liu Jinghui, participated in the Form. Guests presented also include Minister of Education, Chairman of CAPES, and Chairman of the Chilean National Commission for Scientific and Technological Research, as well as Chinese Ambassador to Brazil Li Jinzhang, Chinese Ambassador to Chile Yang Wanming, Consul-General to Sao Paulo Sun Rongmao, and Consul-General to Rio de Janeiro Chen Xiaoling.


According to “Science without Borders” program, Brazilian Government plans to dispatch 5,000 students to study in China in the next 5 years, which is also a common goal of the Exhibition to attract more Brazilian students to study in China, and to promote the educational cooperation and exchange between China and Latin America.


During her stay in Chile, Secretary-General Dr. Liu Jinghui, on behalf of China Scholarship Council, signed the Memorandum of Chilean Government Scholarship for Studying in China with her counterpart Chairman of the Chilean National Commission for Scientific and Technological Research Dr. Jose Miguel Aguilera, in support of students to pursue their graudate studies in China.


Secretary-General Liu Jinghui also visited Chilean Agency for International Cooperation (AgCI), Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and exchanged ideas on the scholarships under bilateral agreement by the two governments.
